I am trying a few recipes by The Pioneer Woman this weekend.

Both of which will most likely be used to make these sometime during the week.  Sounds like a healthy week at my house!!  Whatever, it's the holidays.  Thank you PW for these delectable looking pictures of your haute cuisine.

Coming up for air

There's not much kickin' in Blog Soup land right now except for work, work, work.  With the way the economy is, I'm not complaining one bit.  Hopefully after the new year I should have a bit more time on my hands with which to update this blog.  Please stay tuned!

I'm excited for our Christmas/New Year's plans... we are heading back to KC to spend several days with family & friends.  I don't know how, but each of our 9 days now has some type of activity attached to it.  It will be quite busy, but loads of fun.  I can't wait.
In case you were wondering... the Real Housewives addiction has now moved cross-country to Orange County.  Thank God for losing myself in crap TV!

Hallelujah!

WSB-TV just reported that Joseph Waters, 48, has been arrested on a felony charge of animal cruelty.  He'll be in court tomorrow afternoon.  I hope you get a dog lover judge, phuck stick.

The clinic says that Murphy is doing quite well, and is just coming out of surgery.  Before surgery, he was trying to sit up, bark and whine a bit -- also a good sign.
Calls have been pouring in from around the country, and well wishers continue to drop off toys and flowers for him.  Donations to his cause can be made at any Wachovia branch.
Best news of the day!!!

Update

Ok so the story below has still been weighing heavily on my mind.  I called the vet where Murphy the dog is being cared for - he is being taken care of at Pets are People Too in Dunwoody, GA.  They told me that the kind person that found him in the park has taken ownership of him and is organizing fundraising efforts for his care.  More info should be available later in the day through WSB-TV as well as the AJC.

Poor guy.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Why Why WHY

I saw this story on the news last night.  No preview, it just came and slapped me in the face.  I was bawling after I saw it.  Normally I don't post things like this as I like to keep this blog happy, but everytime I see or hear something related to animal abuse it just breaks me down.  I don't understand how people can be so heartless to poor defenseless animals.  It literally makes me sick to my stomach.  I hugged my dog extra long last night.  I will let this serve as a little public service announcement for ASPCA as well... there IS something we can do about it!

Dog beaten with sledgehammer in DeKalb park

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Investigators are asking the public’s help in finding out who struck a dog with a sledgehammer in a northDeKalb County park.

A passerby found a male brown-and-black shepherd mix with a severe head wound at Murphy Candler Park, off Ashford Dunwoody Road, on Tuesday morning, said county police spokeswoman Keisha Williams.

The dog was in critical condition at a veterinary clinic, police said.

Animal cruelty investigators found a short-handled sledgehammer and think the attack took place at the park, Williams said. Investigators are looking for anyone who saw anything unusual at the park from 9 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses may call 404-294-2818.

WSB reported last night that the dog is being cared for and that the vet is optimistic.

BigOven

Last night I spent some time stalking the App Store and I found this cool new application - BigOven.  It allows you to access recipes anywhere -- so at the grocery store, while you're trying to figure out dinner, etc.  This is perfect for me because I can't count the number of times that I've been at the store and forget one specific ingredient.  It also allows you to mark favorite recipes and also recipes you'd like to try.  You can also post your own recipes to the site.  Check it.
